What a mania- RahMania!


RahMania, the event to celebrate A R Rahman’s success at the Oscars and Grammy was held in Chennai on Sunday. It was scintillating and colourful. It was one of the best evenings that people of Chennai enjoyed.

RahMania, the event organized by Sharan Incorporation and J.S. Entertainment, was nothing but a musical extravaganza. A huge crowd came in to join the celebrations. They were awestruck with some of A R Rahman’s best compositions.

The event started with Sukhwinder Singh singing “Jai Ho” and a couple of his hits. The show stealer was the energetic singer Benny Dayal, who sang many songs but ‘Humma Humma’ from Bombay was the highlight. He made the entire crowd roar with excitement and a few people even danced. Singer Suvvi Suresh also received a lot of applause when she sang ‘Chandralekha’ and ‘Shakalaka Baby’.

Music composer from Kerala, Alphonse, sang “Aaromale” from Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya and the crowd was ecstatic. Suresh Peters was busy drumming on the stage, but the crowd awakened when he sang ‘Chikubuku’ from Gentleman and the popular ‘Pettai Rap’ from Kadhalan.


The brigade of young singers like Naresh Iyer, Swetha Mohan and Haricharan sang Rahman’s recent hits for a thunderous response from the crowd. Other singers who sang were Srinivas, Pravin Mani, Sujatha and Timothy. Giving the singers company on stage, were dancers from John Britto's troupe.





The proceeds of the event were given to V-Excel Education Trust’, an organization that helps thousands of special children. The event went on till late night. End of the show, the audience counting up to almost 8000 thanked the event organizers for such an amazing fun-filled event.
