Satish Chakravarthy Few word on ARR
Muzhu Madhi and Thada Thada from Kanimozhi are climbing up the charts and music director Satish Chakravarthy is one happy man. Having commenced his musical journey under the tutelage of AR Rahman, this soft-spoken metallurgical engineer-turned-musician discusses about Kanimozhi, Rahman and allied musical subjects to Senior Editor Jyothsna Bhavanishankar.
A brief intro
I am music director Satish Chakravarthy and have composed music for Kanimozhi. I am an engineer by education, having graduated from REC (NIT now) Trichy and studied music in Berklee College of Music in Boston. I am working for the past seven years in Chennai. I have worked under AR Rahman since 2006 in 14-15 films. Then I did a film called Leelai with Aascar Films directed by Andrew Louis. Kanimozhi is my second film produced by Amma Creations T Siva and directed by Sripathi Rangaswamy.
What are the projects that you have worked with ARR?
I started with Sillunnu Oru Kaadhal, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Jodha Akbar and others.
Rahman experience
It was a great experience to have worked with Rahman. He is not only a great musician but also a wonderful human being. Rahman is a great boss. He took me under his wings and mentored me to become a better musician and taught me how to use technology in an artistic way. You don’t get this kind of learning anywhere else. Rahman is also like a friend, philosopher and guide to all those who work with him because he likes to take care of people who work for him. It is his encouragement which has made me an independent music director.
Rahman as a person
I like his humility. He remains grounded always. Success does not affect Rahman at all. He treats all human beings equally irrespective of their backgrounds. I really look upon this quality of Rahman as a person.

Jhootha Hi Sahi may be postponed by one week
THERE's a strong possibility that Jhootha Hi Sahi (due to release on Friday, October 15) may be postponed by one week.
The film may now arrive on October 22 because music composer AR Rahman is yet to complete recording the movie's background score. Producer Madhu Mantena doesn't rule out the possibility. "Yes, the film may get shifted to next week. It's true that Rahman hasn't completed recording the background score.
"Also, with two major films clashing on October 15 (Aakrosh, Knock Out) there's no point releasing on that date. Besides, the music of Jhootha Hi Sahi is picking up and if we shift the film ahead by one week, it will only help the music to grow further," Mantena states.
If Jhootha Hi Sahi is shifted to latter date, Madhu Mantena will hold the distinction of releasing four films on a single Friday - Jhootha Hi Sahi and the three versions of Rakht Charitra (in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu).
Bollywood Hungama News Network reports that Jhootha Hi Sahi is one of the most eagerly awaited films of this year.
Starring John Abraham, the film, directed by Abbas Tyrewala, is the story of a compulsive liar who lies left, right and centre.
Pakhi's wife is paired opposite Abraham in this film with a host of supporting actors such as Raghu Ram, Manasi Scott and Anahita Nair.
However, besides the above-mentioned names there is a surprise element. One would also get to see R.Madhavan and Nandana Sen in guest appearances in the film. In fact, there were talks that even Kajol would be seen in the film.
What's more, the film's official website also mentions her name as part of the cast. However, when Bollywood Hungama News Network contacted producer Madhu Mantena, he confirmed Maddy and Nandana Sen's presence in the film but denied the rumour that Kajol is in the film.
Ahead of its release Jhootha Hi Sahi has apparently run into troubled waters.
Apparently, the popular Hollywood production house, Warner Bros, has demanded a screening of the film, claiming that the film in question is a rip-off of their television series Friends. However, the producers of the film are finding this claim ridiculous.
Sources close to the matter |told Bollywood Hungama News Network that apparently the |film's producer Madhu Mantena received a call from the company's officials saying that the film was similar to Friends, but Mantena explained that the claim was untrue as the film had nothing to do with the series.
However, the company insisted and has now asked for a trial, failing which it will sue the producers.

Rahman, Resul’s clean-up act
Oscar-winners AR Rahman and Resul Pookutty are troubled souls. Both deeply religious, they have been traumatised during their visit to the Dargah of Moinuddin Chisty in Ajmer.
They were shocked to see that the path leading up to the religious site is covered with human excrete and the stink of filth was in the air to greet the people traveling there. A global heritage site and a tourist attraction, the Dargah literally needed a serious face-lift. Rahman and Resul could not bear this sight and took the onus on them to get the place clean.
Accompanied by acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, the duo offered a chadar at the shrine to kick start their campaign. BT has learnt that they wrote to the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, about the dismal state of affairs asking him to look into it.
The duo also approached the WAKF Board, the trust at the Dargah as well as the All India Muslim Personal Law Board for help in their initiative. Their work has paid off as Resul confirms to us that the Government of India under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission has sanctioned Rs 38.42 lakh for Ajmer.
We also hear that the major works under this scheme would be the improvement of Nai Sadak (the path to the Dargah) and the development of pathway from Dargah to Taragarh.
Underground cabling work as well as building and maintaining community toilets are also on the agenda.
Resul confirms to BT saying, "The Dargah is very close to our hearts. It comforts our souls and we have become very attached to it. We could not really gulp down that the bad condition of the surrounding at the Dargah that attracts people from across the world has become a way of life. We wanted to change it and make the place look hygienic. We wrote to the PM and we have got a confirmation from the PMO that they have sanctioned the amount. We just don't know who will be in charge of the clean-up. Something needed to be done urgently."

A R Rahman in a Malayalam film
Recent news doing the rounds is that the Mozart of Madras, A R Rahman, who hadn't worked in any Mollywood flick after his debut film 'Yoddha', will be soon seen again in Malayalam soon. But that will be in a different avatar.
The buzz is that the ace musician will be playing a role on screen in the latest Mammootty flick, 'Track with Rahman' to be directed by Jayaraj.
The movie to be made simultaneously in Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi, will have the megastar as an investigative officer, who is in Mumbai to track the reality behind the mysterious death of an young man who landed in Mumbai to sing a track for a famous singer.
The film is expected to roll in a couple of months.

Munni badnam hui singer wants to work with A R Rahman
Mamta Sharma, the sultry voice behind chartbuster Munni badnaam hui from Dabangg, now wants to work with Oscar-winner AR Rahman.
The song picturised on Malaika Arora became a rage with the listeners and contributed a lot to the film's success.
And Mamta, who has already bagged Dharmendra-Sunny Deol starrer Main Yamla Pagla Deewana, is now looking forward to a chance to croon with Rahman, her favourite musician in Bollywood.
"I wish to associate myself with Rahman and sing under his music direction. I also want to work with different music directors of his generation," said Mamta.
The singer, who has shot to fame with the popularity of the item number, does not have any formal training in music.
"I don't have any special training in music. I reached this stage by listening to other singers. Today, I can sing in 11 languages," she said.
Mamta also discloses her another hidden facet. She claims she can sing in the voice of some of the other female singers including the legend, Lata Mageshkar.
